I appreciate that you put these thoughts into words because my dumb brain just says “book good”. Babel is one of the best books I think I’ve ever read, just a fascinating experience from start to finish.
Thanks Kyle! I'm actually a little taken aback by how much criticism I'm seeing in my review thread on r/fantasy about the book--seems like a lot of folks just really didn't like it. I think there are legitimate criticisms to be made about the historical accuracy in some places, but I'm alright with it overall because 1) I don't expect fictional books to get every historical detail correct and 2) the biases and stances of this book are really VERY clear from the outset.
